Back in March, I was proud to vote to pass the For the People Act. And this bill is exactly what it sounds like -- a bill for the people.
Each and every person deserves fair and equal access to the ballot to be a part of our democracy -- because no matter who you’re voting for or why, your voice matters.
It’s imperative that the Senate advances this legislation to make voting easier, more secure, and more equitable. Please join me in calling on the Senate to pass the For the People Act -- the time has never been more urgent.
The For the People Act includes sections on automatic voter registration, addressing roadblocks like limiting voting hours or polling locations, expanding vote by mail and early voting, prohibiting discriminatory voter ID laws…
and so much more.
The fight to prevent voter suppression and expand voting rights is urgent. As a matter of fact, the For the People Act is the most expansive piece of legislation regarding voting rights since the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Our government could be doing so much more to protect and provide access to the ballot box.
