and demonstrate the social and economic value of youth work
Hello John,
I hope this finds you well.
Last year, NYCI commissioned independent research on the youth work sector's response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Building on the 2020 research, now we need your help with an additional study exploring the youth work sector’s response to the pandemic (over the last 12 months) to address the following research questions:
1. How has the youth work sector responded to challenges presented by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic?
2. What methodologies have been used to deliver services and supports to young people during this period?
3. How are youth organisations supporting the well-being and capacity of youth work staff and volunteers?
4. What supports are required to mitigate the impact of the ongoing pandemic on the youth work sector in the short to long-term?

With your input, we want to demonstrate the social and economic value of youth work using data from three surveys:
* for youth workers and volunteer youth leaders ([link removed])
* for youth service managers ([link removed])
* for young people ([link removed])
Why is it important?
The 2020 research exposed the disconnect from youth services experienced by the most at-risk young people due to the pandemic, documented the challenges you faced in continuing to provide those services remotely, and highlighted many examples of good practice from across the sector.

To sustain youth work into the future and demonstrate its social and economic value, we need your help to capture the sector’s ongoing response to the challenges presented by the pandemic.
How can you help?
These surveys form part of the initial phase of our research.
Youth workers and volunteer youth leaders ([link removed]) >>
We want to hear about your methodologies and your experiences of wellbeing support.
Youth service managers ([link removed]) >>
We want to hear about the response of your organisations to the pandemic, as well the kinds of supports they may need going forward.
Young people ([link removed]) >>
We want to find how youth work has made a difference to your life during the pandemic as well as what you think is important for the future.
The closing date for taking the surveys is 2 July, 2021.
