When workers’ rights were under attack, our NY Essential Workers coalition built a statewide movement to fight for and win the NY HERO Act, the first-of-its-kind legislation that will protect and empower workers to fight this pandemic and whatever may come next.
When special interests tried to undermine New York City’s landmark building emissions law Local Law 97, we brought together labor and environmental groups to save tens of thousands of green jobs for New Yorkers.
When frontline immigrant New Yorkers were left out of aid to survive the pandemic, the Fund Excluded Worker coalition fought for and won the groundbreaking $2.1 billion Excluded Worker Fund.
When workers in the private construction industry were being exploited and not paid for an honest day’s work, advocates pushed for the Wage Theft Bill to pass the NYS legislature. Yet while we have been able to achieve historic victories for worker justice, no major climate legislation passed this session despite record breaking heat waves, pollution, hurricanes, and droughts that kill hundreds of thousands every year. That is unacceptable. We are keeping the pressure on our state leaders to pass the Climate and Community Investment Act, which will make corporate polluters pay so we can invest in climate infrastructure and create 160,000 climate jobs for New Yorkers.
Big corporations continue to use their monopoly power to bully and abuse workers and small businesses. We need the 21st Century Antitrust Act to rein in the power of corporations who for too long destroyed our communities. We have created incredible momentum to build movements that push for big structural changes. Will you contribute to ALIGN so we can continue to build people power across New York? |
