America is an Exceptional Nation

Dear John,

America is an exceptional nation that kindly welcomed Ilhan Omar with open arms when she came as a refugee. While she certainly has the constitutional right to exercise her freedom of speech, it’s unconscionable for her to compare our great nation to terrorist organizations like Hamas and the Taliban.

While it took her more than three days to “clarify” her anti-American message, she has a long history of promoting offensive and controversial views. While we live in the greatest country in the world, it’s disappointing that Ilhan Omar and others in her party continue to promote anti-American sentiments that heighten the divisiveness in Washington and weaken our efforts to work together on behalf of the constituents we represent.

Fighting for American Energy Policy

I’m sure you’ve noticed every time you fill up your tank that energy costs are rising. In fact, gas prices are at their highest point in seven years. Rather than explore ways to energy independence, Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi are doubling down on a war on American energy that’s causing pain at the pumps and costing working families their jobs. In less than six short months, they have shut down the Keystone pipeline and canceled leases to ANWR. Sadly, the extreme, anti-jobs special interest groups driving the Biden and Pelosi agenda are promising Line 3 will be next. Now more than ever we must fight for American energy and jobs and against extreme Green New Deal energy policy that threatens America's Energy security increases our dependence on unstable foreign countries, and destroys thousands of good-paying jobs for working families.

Big Tech Censoring Political Speech

First, they “shadow ban” you, and not long after they censor you outright. Eventually, they kick you off their social platform entirely. This sounds drastic but it’s exactly what is happening to some conservatives on social media. Big tech is now the big silencer. That's right, some big tech platforms are censoring the fundamental right of freedom of thought and speech by moderating who can use their platform. The freedom to speak one's mind and the truth is what our country was built on. We can't allow a powerful few to determine what we can and cannot say and use their big-tech allies to silence voices. Biden Budget Ignores Border Security

Joe Biden’s $6 trillion budget raises endless concerns, but his complete disregard for border security is outrageous. I visited the southern border last month and it’s extremely concerning how quickly this devolved into a humanitarian and national security crisis. Despite a 21-year high in border crossings, Biden’s budget essentially cuts funding for the Department of Homeland Security, and:

- Nixes funding for the border wall

- Cancels unused funds previously allocated to the wall

- Slashes Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) funding for several priorities

- Cuts funding for the 287(g) program, which deputizes state and local law enforcement to assist ICE in enforcing immigration laws
