John,

Florida Republican Ron DeSantis signed into law one of the worst voter suppression bills in the country. But we are not going to give up. Florida voters deserve better.

All the Republican statewide victories in Florida over the last few years have been by incredibly small margins. If we put in the work, we can defeat DeSantis and Marco Rubio in 2022.

A governorship, a U.S. Senate seat, and, more importantly, the voting rights of 20 million people are at risk. We can win if Democrats invest in early organizing by grassroots groups like us. So, please, chip in $25 to protect voting rights, defeat DeSantis, and expand our Senate majority.

The day the bill was signed we sent you an email explaining the most critical provisions of this racist voter suppression bill. I know that after reading it, you'll be as enraged as us. So, please, join us in making sure Florida does not reelect DeSantis.

Thank you,

John,

Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis just signed into law one of the most disgusting attacks on voting rights in recent years.

This morning, as the bill signing was being set up, we heard from journalists not being allowed in the room. That is because DeSantis made this bill signing, a government event, an exclusive to FOX News. This would be unheard of in other states, but this is DeSantis’ m.o. Even at the height of Florida’s COVID crisis, he would block reporters that asked tough questions.

Let me be clear: DeSantis is doing two things here. He is making sure no future Florida elections are free or fair. And he also wants to anger you specifically. Attacking our country’s free press should anger you, and his ability to do that is what Donald Trump and his base are looking for. Today was DeSantis’ pitch to join Donald Trump’s inner circle, and it looks like he’s in.

If you are truly mad at the unfolding electoral crisis in Florida, the one thing DeSantis doesn’t want you to do is support grassroots organizations that will hold him accountable. So, we are asking, please donate $25 so Floridians get the voting rights they deserve.

Now, here are some of the worst provisions in the bill:

- Limits vote-by-mail requests times;

- Makes drop boxes ridiculously inaccessible;

- Enacts a racist signature matching system that will disproportionately impact voters of color and those who speak English as a second language (this is is such a strict measure that even DeSantis had trouble voting due to this issue);

- Bans giving food/water to voters;

- Expands partisan challenges to vote counting.

This morning DeSantis said these are “the strongest election integrity measures in the country.” We all know that "election integrity" is just a cover for politicians like DeSantis who are looking after their own prospects, but he is not wrong about the scope of this bill. It truly is the biggest attack on voting rights in decades.

Join us in holding DeSantis accountable by donating $25.

------------
Vote From Home is a grassroots movement that's fighting to expand vote-by-mail. We helped thousands of Democrats vote safely from home in Pennsylvania, Michigan, North Carolina and Georgia in 2020 and 2021. Now we're focused on stopping politicians and legislation who are making it harder for Americans to vote by mail. Please forward this email if you know someone who may be interested. Our average gift is just under $39 so consider donating that today to support voting rights: [link removed]
