Friend --
Our democracy is hanging by a thread. But for many big businesses, there is a lot of money to be made from the status quo when you can spend millions of dollars anonymously to buy elections -- all of the influence, none of the accountability.
Now, there is a massive effort by big business interests to thwart democracy reforms like the For the People Act.
The Koch network, run by right-wing ideologue and billionaire Charles Koch, has spent tens of millions alone backing many of the senators who are opposing the For the People Act, which would overhaul campaign finance laws to make it harder for dark money groups, like those in the Koch network, to secretly influence our elections.
Here's just a few of the Republican senators that the Koch network has bought off:
- Texas senator John Cornyn -- $5.7 million
- Arkansas senator and potential 2024 GOP presidential candidate Tom Cotton -- $4.3 million
- Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson -- $4.3 million
Groups associated with the Koch network have spent over $100 million boosting the campaigns of current Republican senators. You won't be surprised to hear that none of those senators support the For the People Act or any serious voting rights legislation.
The good news is that, even though these rules have been in place for years now, Democrats have still proven that we can win elections. With the status of the For the People Act uncertain for now, we need to prepare to win in 2022 regardless.

We can do this if we stick together, no matter how many billionaires stand in our way. Thanks for being an ally in this battle.
