John,
Over the last few weeks, Republicans in state legislatures nationwide have introduced hundreds of restrictive election and voting bills. At least 22 of them have passed so far.
And we know exactly why they're doing it.
Republicans have given up on trying to persuade voters that their extreme positions are right. Instead, they're driving an all-out attack on democracy to try and keep the same voters who came out in massive numbers last year from turning out again in 2022 and 2024.
Before the end of June, the U.S. Senate is set to consider For The People Act (HR1/S1) which would fight back against these attacks and protect and expand our democracy. It's essential that the Senate pass this legislation.
Our democracy hangs in the balance, and we need to make sure our voices are heard. Join us for a special virtual town hall with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and Congressmembers Mondaire Jones and Jamaal Bowman this coming Wednesday, June 16 at 7:30pm ET / 4:30pm ET and learn how we can fight back:

The For the People Act (HR1/S1) strengthens the right to vote, lessens the influence of big money in politics, and restores ethical norms. It’s a desperately needed response to decades of voter suppression and the escalating Republican assaults on democracy and elections.
On Wednesday's town hall with Senator Schumer, NY Attorney General James, Representatives Jones and Bowman, and other special guests, we'll hear the latest update on where the legislation stands in the Senate, get answers on how the bill impacts all of us, and learn how we can take action to get it passed.
RSVP now to join progressives nationwide on a virtual town hall with Sen. Schumer and special guests on Wednesday 6/16 at 7:30pm ET.
