The race for AG in Virginia is officially on, and the differences between the two candidates couldn’t be more stark. We have to reelect AG Herring.
Friend, the only race for Attorney General in 2021 is officially on, and we couldn’t have two candidates who are more different:
AG Mark Herring is Virginia’s champion. A giant in progressive politics who strongly defended our democracy from Donald Trump, AG Herring fought for equal rights for everyone under the law, no matter their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or religion, and he protected Obamacare from Republican attacks.
AG Herring’s track record speaks for itself: He’s the people’s lawyer.
Then there’s Jason Miyares. The Republican nominee is a right-wing extremist in the Virginia House of Delegates with an ominous track record of attacking progress on everything from health care, to gun safety, to justice reforms. The typical GOP cast of characters is lining up behind him, from Ted Cruz to Marco Rubio, and he represents a real threat to the people of Virginia.
Friend, the stakes in this race are high. Republicans are looking to the elections in Virginia this year to reclaim lost ground after 2020, and they’re putting it all on the line. They spent more than $7 million dollars to try and unseat AG Herring last time, and we have every indication that they’re going to spend more this time around.
Democratic AGs truly are “The People’s Lawyers” and DAGA is the only party committee devoted to electing more of them. Since 2016, we’ve won two-thirds of our targeted races, and with more than 30 AG seats up for grabs in the next two years, we need your support – will you chip in today?
