John, after months of back-and-forth, HR 1 is finally going before the Senate as S. 1. Just check out this tweet from Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer:

While this is a huge step in the right direction, it also marks S. 1’s last chance to become law – and our last chance to stop the undemocratic backslide happening across the nation.

By the end of June, one of two things could happen:

If we win, the For the People Act will take effect and supersede state-level voting restrictions to safeguard our rights and protect democracy from the GOP.

But if we lose, Republicans will continue their voter suppression agenda unchecked and tilt the scales for generations to come.

We can’t sit around and let the arcane Senate filibuster rule hamstring our democracy. We must take decisive action.

We must pass S. 1.
