To President Biden and Congress:
"Prioritize our freedom to vote and do everything you can to fight voter suppression by passing the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the For the People Act."

John,
Did you know that 361 voter suppression bills have been introduced in 47 states this year?
Some have become law in states like Florida, Georgia and Arizona, which attack early voting, add restrictive voter ID requirements, and even go as far as making it illegal to give food or water to someone who is in line to vote. Politicians in Congress and in state legislatures across the country are proactively working to disenfranchise voters, especially voters of color.
In 2020, CHN worked to expand access to the polls for low-income and marginalized communities. We can’t go backwards. And, together, we won't!
Join CHN and our national coalition. Sign the petition demanding President Biden and Congress prioritize our freedom to vote and do everything they can to fight voter suppression by passing the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the For the People Act.
We’re facing an avalanche of voter suppression that we haven’t seen since the Jim Crow era. Immediately following the presidential election and Joe Biden's historic victory, state lawmakers began introducing legislation to blatantly suppress our freedom to vote.
CHN is working with a broad range of allies to protect our inalienable right to vote and strengthen our democracy. And we are making progress.
In Texas, for example, Democrats have at least temporarily stopped a Republican effort to pass new voting restrictions, and they have a message for President Biden and Congress: “If we can protect voting rights, you can, too.”
We refuse to sit by and allow our freedom to vote to be attacked. Demand President Biden and Congress fight for our rights! Add your name!
Congress can and must pass once-in-a-generation, landmark legislation to protect the freedom to vote and secure our democracy.
The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the For the People Act are critical to stopping attacks on our voting rights and expanding voter protections. They would reinstate a requirement that state legislatures get approval from the U.S. Department of Justice before changing election laws that limit voting rights. Plus, they’d strengthen voting rights and access, enhance campaign finance reform, and address government ethics to root out corruption in politics.
Thank you for all you do to fight for a democracy that includes all of us.
