In case we haven’t been introduced, my name is Terry McAuliffe. This week, I was proud to accept the nomination of the Democratic Party of Virginia as their candidate for governor this November. But, if I’m being honest, I’m already worried about Election Day.

Here in Virginia, we have our elections in 2021 -- that means we have just under 5 months to win this thing. And my Trump-endorsed, extreme right-wing opponent is pledging to spend $75 million of his own money to buy the governor’s office.

We can’t wait until 2022 to fight back against Trumpism’s resurgence -- the fight for Virginia’s future is happening right now. I mean, John, my opponent literally launched his campaign supporting Trump’s big lie and promising to make “election integrity” a top priority if elected.

Reproductive rights, voting rights, the future of our environment -- they’re all on the line in this election. We can’t afford to just sit back and let Glenn Youngkin pour millions of dollars into spreading his extreme right-wing agenda across Virginia.

I know that your support played an integral role in the 2020 election -- but it’s not enough to just win against Trump once. We need to root out Trumpism wherever it appears. Please, chip in anything you can to fight Trump’s best chance at a comeback. »
