John --
In 2020, Stacey Abrams proved once again what we can accomplish when women of color lead. And she isn't sitting back after winning historic victories for Democrats in Georgia -- she's still fighting for voting rights in her home state.
Speaking on MSNBC recently about the ongoing GOP-backed audits of the 2020 election in Georgia, Abrams said:
“These are schemes designed to perpetuate not only the Big Lie, but more concerning to me, it's to perpetuate the insurrection.” -- Stacey Abrams
To this day, there is zero evidence of any kind of widespread voter fraud occurring anywhere in the US during the 2020 elections. But Republicans are embracing debunked conspiracy theories so they can more easily pass voting laws that will rig elections in their favor.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp is leading the way with new, dangerous voting restrictions -- and we know why. Stacey Abrams herself is likely to challenge Kemp for the governorship in 2022. Kemp stole the election in 2018 by using dirty suppression tactics, and he's planning to double down in 2022 to defeat her once again.
Stacey Abrams can win this race -- 2020 proved that Democrats can win big in Georgia if we put our minds to it. But we need to start preparing today for all the tricks Brian Kemp is sure to have up his sleeve.
