Happy Pride Month, John!
Pride is a month of love and authenticity, a time to celebrate how far the community has come. After all--Love is Love is Love! But it’s also a reminder of how far we have to go.
At every turn, I have done my best to stand alongside the LGBTQ+ community in the fight for equality. And I'm proud that here in Oregon, we are protected against discrimination on the basis of sexuality or gender identity. But that's far from the case in other states, which seem to be racing to pass anti-LGBTQ+ legislation. We simply cannot rest until we have Oregon's level of protection everywhere in America. And, that's why we need Congress to pass The Equality Act.
The Equality Act would prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity — in healthcare, housing, education, public spaces, and so much more. And we need the Senate to pass this important piece of legislation immediately.
