Meeting with Community and Business Leaders in Houma
I enjoyed meeting with community and business leaders in Houma earlier this week. We discussed funding for the Morganza-to-the-Gulf flood protection project, which will provide much-needed flood protection for thousands of families and businesses in Southeast Louisiana and protect billions of dollars in economic activity transported through our region that provide valuable energy resources to fuel this country while allowing our state to dominate in domestic and international maritime and energy commerce.
We also talked about the National Flood Insurance Program and President Biden's decision to halt energy leasing and permits, which will impact more than 34,000 jobs in the state over the next 10 years and undermine America's energy security. I've urged the Biden Administration to reverse this leasing ban and commit to affordable energy for all Americans.
Awarding Louisiana's Elementary Teacher of the Year
On Monday, I met with Kenner resident Angelle Bourgeois, the 2021 Louisiana Elementary School Teacher of the Year. Angelle is the assistant principal at Allemands Elementary School in Des Allemands and was recently honored at the State Capitol in Baton Rouge for her award. Congratulations, Angelle!

President Biden's performance has been dismal since he took office. He's costing hard-working Americans their jobs and giving them to foreign countries. Our adversaries are testing President Biden right now, and he's failing those tests. He canceled the Keystone XL pipeline, lifted sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, and is trying to give away our intellectual property of the vaccine to China. President Biden's policies right now are destroying the fabric of America.
