Friend -- Today is the 5th anniversary of the
tragic mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida.
It was the deadliest attack on the LGBTQ+ community in U.S.
history -- and many of the victims were people of color. In many
ways, our country has come a long way in the fight for LGBTQ+
acceptance. But incidents like these remind us that we still have
a long way to go.
Even now, we’re seeing governors across the state attempt to
criminalize and exclude LGBTQ+ people through discriminatory
legislation. In fact, MAGA Florida Governor Ron DeSantis even
vetoed mental health funding for Pulse survivors just this month.
As a gay man myself, I will always be on the forefront of the
fight to secure LGBTQ+ rights. That’s why I’m working hard to
pass the Equality Act -- to prohibit discrimination against
people across the gender and orientation spectrums.
Team, will you join me in that fight by
signing on to my petition demanding the Senate pass the Equality
Act immediately and stop discrimination against my LGBTQ+ brothers
and sisters? » ( [link removed] )
STOP LGBTQ+ DISCRIMATION: DEMAND THE SENATE PASS THE EQUALITY
ACT » ( [link removed] )
This Pride Month, as we remember the Pulse shooting, let’s
recommit ourselves to the fight for LGBTQ+ rights, safety, and
dignity.
Thank you for taking action,
Mark
