What is a Straw Purchase?

Per the Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA) it is unlawful for any person to acquire, or attempt to acquire, any firearm or ammunition from a licensee using any false or fictitious oral or written statement, or furnish false or misrepresenting identification. Licensees should be aware of situations where individuals may misrepresent themselves in order to purchase firearms and/or ammunition.

Silencer Markings and Registration Requirements

ATF has never required that each component of a silencer be marked when
possessed during the production process by federal firearms licensees paying the special occupational tax (FFL/SOT). This enforcement policy extends to parts made by FFLs/SOTs for the sole purposes of repairing a registered silencer.
