In 1974, Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater led a delegation of Republicans to the Oval Office. They informed Richard Nixon that he had lost his party’s support in Congress.
Nixon resigned the next day.
Forty-five years later, another president faces impeachment, and Republicans face a similar choice. But no Goldwater has emerged in the Senate today.
Instead of confronting Donald Trump, Cory Gardner led a delegation of Republicans to New York to raise money for Trump’s reelection.
Now we face a choice too. Colorado can replace Gardner with a leader unbowed by political pressure and unafraid to speak truth to power—a leader like Andrew Romanoff.
