I am so happy to share that, after all the emails and calls and petition signatures -- it is official: we passed the Stop Loud and Excessive Exhaust Pollution (SLEEP) Act! It now goes to the Governor to sign.

The SLEEP ACT will finally increase fines for modifying mufflers and make it easier to get these drivers off the streets. We will finally curtail dangerous behavior and let neighbors get some sleep once and for all.

This could not have happened without your continued support! Hundreds of you signed our petition and countless more shared it all across the city. We have made our streets safer and our city better.

These are the moments we have to treasure. I heard from New Yorkers across the five boroughs and the entire state how important this issue was. We made change happen.

There is still work to be done though - so, what's next?
