Since January 6, my Democratic colleagues and I have worked tirelessly to form a bipartisan investigative commission to uncover the truth surrounding the insurrection. We even passed a bill forming this commission in the House, and we excitedly sent it over to our colleagues in the Senate.

 

But, John, you know how Republicans feel about the truth. The commission would have likely implicated dozens of Republicans in the insurrection, revealing that the GOP was complicit in the attempted coup.

 

So, House and Senate Republicans did the only cowardly thing they could think of -- voting against the commission's creation. While our Democratic majority prevailed in the House, the GOP killed our bill in the Senate.

 

If our House majority is overtaken by deceptive Republicans, we'll never expose the truth and begin rebuilding faith in our democracy. That's why I'm asking for your help today -- because the stakes have never been higher. I will always fight for truth and accountability in Washington, but I can't do my job unless we meet our upcoming goal.
