2021 has been the worst year for anti-LGBTQ+ legislation in recent history, with states across the country enacting more than double the number of hateful laws seen in the past three years combined.
These discriminatory pieces of legislation endanger the lives of the LGBTQ+ community and embolden hateful extremists. It's absolutely critical that the federal government takes meaningful action to counteract these anti-LGBTQ+ laws.
Derek and his colleagues in the House have already passed the Equality Act to do just that -- and now the Senate must do the same. This comprehensive civil rights legislation would provide federal protections for the LGBTQ+ community and explicitly prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.
It's not an exaggeration to say that the Equality Act will save lives. Will you celebrate Pride Month by standing up against discrimination and hate and call on the Senate to pass the Equality Act without delay?
