Dear Friend,
There is nothing more joyful than welcoming a child into the world, however the arrival of a child can be a stressful time as parents struggle to balance work and child care. I was fortunate enough to take paternity leave when my wife and I welcomed our second child a few months ago. I realize that not every family has this option -- yet. In Congress, I have made universal paid family leave a priority, because every parent should have the opportunity to be there for their new family or if a loved one gets sick.

I’ve been working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle, and the Biden Administration, to strengthen the care economy. That means fighting for universal paid family leave to care for a sick family member, to have time as a family after the birth or adoption of a child, making child care more affordable, and offering Pre-K starting at age three. When we support caregivers, our communities, our families, and our local economy thrive.
