Chris and his colleagues in the House passed the For the People Act (H.R.1) several months ago to protect our voting rights, secure our elections, and defend our democracy. But this week Democratic Senator Joe Manchin announced that he does not plan on supporting this legislation in the Senate.
This is a HUGE setback for democracy reform, team. The For the People Act is the comprehensive legislation we need to safeguard our democracy, but the bill will likely die in the Senate without Senator Manchin's vote.
While this isn't the news we wanted to hear this week, expanding voting rights and protecting our democracy remain top priorities. Now we want to hear what you think. Do you agree that protecting voting rights and our democracy should still be top legislative priorities?
