Friend: No one has been spared the effects of the pandemic, but for the more than 79 million forcibly displaced people around the world who have been uprooted by conflict, violence, persecution, and disasters, COVID-19 has been just one of many crises they have had to endure.
Refugees and other displaced people living in Bangladesh, Syria, or Greece, have contended with the effects of overcrowding, unsafe living conditions, and unstable access to health services and other essentials. The pandemic created new challenges on top of an existing humanitarian emergency for millions of people around the world.
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has been on the ground in more than 70 countries for almost 50 years to deliver lifesaving care to the people who need it most—often where other organizations cannot or will not go. We’ve seen firsthand how COVID-19 has made life even more difficult for people living in these circumstances, and want to share some of that with you.
This email was sent from the U.S. section of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), an international independent medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural and man-made disasters, and exclusion from health care.
