It’s already been a busy and exciting year at the George W. Bush Institute. We are carefully and gladly gathering together thanks to vaccines and declining COVID-19 numbers in Dallas. The entire team is thrilled that Café 43, the permanent exhibition, and our special exhibition are back open to the public. Tickets are available online at bushcenter.org. <[link removed]>

Immigration Reform <[link removed]>
In April, President Bush released his fourth book, Out of Many, One: Portraits of America’s Immigrants <[link removed]>.

Out of Many, One is a natural extension of the Bush Institute’s long commitment to immigration reform <[link removed]>. We’ve ramped up our immigration efforts this year, writing and speaking about bold, principle-based solutions that are politically viable – and in our Nation’s best interest.

A Continued Commitment to Post-9/11 Veterans <[link removed]>
On Feb. 18, the Bush Institute hosted leaders from the public, private, nonprofit, and philanthropic sectors at Stand-To 2021: A National Veterans Convening <[link removed]> to examine research and policy solutions for supporting veteran transition.
The team released a research report <[link removed]> co-authored with Syracuse University’s Institute for Veterans and Military Families that reviewed new survey results.

Policy 101: What's Happening in Burma <[link removed]>
The Bush Institute has been engaged in leadership development in Burma for several years through our Liberty and Leadership Program <[link removed]>. Unfortunately, the Feb. 1 coup d’état <[link removed]> has placed our scholars in grave danger. We continue to work to provide information and support to our program participants, keeping their safety as our utmost priority.

Bush Institute Leadership Program Participants Make an Impact <[link removed]>
Our leadership program participants inspire us every day with the incredible work they do and the profound impact they have around the globe.
* Phyoe Phyoe Aung (Burma), Liberty and Leadership Scholar, received the 2021 International Women of Courage award from U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken in a virtual ceremony also attended by first lady Dr. Jill Biden.
* Riham Adel (Egypt), WE Lead Scholar, recently started the Global Women’s Leaders Circle with the goal of creating a strong international network of women leaders.
* Kelly Stormer, Presidential Leadership Scholar, spearheaded an event and coordinated $ 250,000 in funding to support veteran organizations with a focus on underserved communities and those disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
