By: Glenn T. Stanton

Next week, the Southern Baptists will hold their annual convention in Nashville where it will elect a new president to lead the denomination through some very important and difficult times that involve their take on issues like the interpretation and application of scriptural truth, race, sexual integrity and holiness and involvement in national politics. Currently, there are

Second Grader Told She Can’t Read Bible at School; Parents and Lawyers Push Back

By: Bruce Hausknecht

The parents of Gabrielle, a second grader at an Illinois public school, recently heard from administrators that their daughter, who liked reading her Bible out loud at recess, could no longer do so. “You just can’t be doing that,” school officials

told Gabrielle.

When the school called her parents to talk about the prohibition, they pushed back. The school relented, somewhat, and said Gabrielle could still read the Bible outside at recess but couldn’t do so at any recess held inside the school building.

No other child or parent had ever complained about Gabrielle’s Bible reading. She was not causing a disruption to the educational process.

Walk for Life — Two Pregnancy Resource Center Nurses Share Amazing Stories About How Ultrasounds Save Lives

By: Brittany Raymer

Planned Parenthood, due often to its massive coffers, has an undue influence on society and how women see their pregnancies and abortion. Pregnancy resource centers (PRCs) are trying to push against that and show women, couples and families how they can manage an unexpected pregnancy.

Staffed by passionate pro-life nurses, administrators, office workers and volunteers, PRCs are on the front lines when it comes to encouraging and helping women and couples explore life-affirming options for a pregnancy by showing them the reality of life inside the womb through ultrasounds.

Recently, The Daily Citizen had the opportunity to sit down with two nurses working at the Colorado Springs PRC,

New Study Shows Therapy to Leave Homosexuality Can Be Effective and Helpful

By: Jeff Johnston

LGBT activists and their supporters in the mainstream media and health professions have developed a narrative that they proclaim as absolute truth: Any kind of therapeutic or spiritual help for people with unwanted homosexual attractions, behavior or identity doesn’t work and is damaging.

But a new

study demonstrates that this narrative isn’t necessarily true. Titled, “Efficacy and risk of sexual orientation change efforts: a retrospective analysis of 125 exposed men,” it shows therapy for unwanted homosexuality can be effective and helpful.

Department of Justice Tells Court it will Defend Religious Freedom of Faith-Based Schools

By: Bruce Hausknecht

Taking an action that pleasantly surprised defenders of religious freedom, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) this week informed a federal judge that it would undertake the defense of faith-based schools under Title IX. If successful in defeating a

lawsuit brought against these schools by students and alumni, the DOJ’s actions would allow them to retain their sex-based distinctives such as men’s and women’s housing, restrooms and locker rooms.

Title IX, a 1972 federal law that prohibits sex discrimination in education, also contains a recognition that faith-based schools, including Christian primary and secondary schools and universities, provide an education based on those religious beliefs.
