Dear John,

I came to Congress to champion issues important to Northeastern Pennsylvanians—things that affect us every day, like the roads we drive on. 

That's why I'm excited that when I personally requested $20 million for specific infrastructure projects in NEPA, ALL of it was included in a major transportation bill! These are federal investments to be made directly in Northeastern Pennsylvania that will help make roads and bridges safer while creating local jobs. On top of that, our area could receive even more funding if we can get this package across the finish line.

This is just a first step, but I will continue to fight for these projects every step of the way to make sure this funding makes it back to our communities.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport (AVP) plays an important role in our local economy. It brings visitors to the region, generates revenue and allows Northeastern Pennsylvanians to travel safely and efficiently.

This past year has been hard for all travel companies, but it's been especially difficult for regional airports like ours. Now more than ever, airports need support to ensure the safety and security of travelers as more people are traveling and businesses are re-opening. 

I am proud that the American Rescue Plan delivered $2 million to AVP, which will help improve the passenger and staff experience in the airport. As Chairman of an Appropriations Subcommittee, I'll make sure these funds keep coming to NEPA so we can continue growing our local economy and creating jobs in our community.

Last Friday, it was my great honor to recognize the first women in Northeastern Pennsylvania to earn the rank of Eagle Scout!

Congratulations to Kyleen Bird of Moosic, Emily Calder of Taylor and Angelina Krug of Greentown for reaching the highest level of achievement for the Boy Scouts of America.

They are joining an elite group of Americans who continue to make a difference in our country using the skills they cultivated on their journey to become Eagle Scouts. I'm excited to watch as they pave the way for future generations of young girls looking to reach their full potential in scouting.

The vaccine allows us to change the course of the pandemic and return to doing the things we love.
