Art and storytelling have long played a powerful and central role in movements for social justice.
John –
We have all witnessed how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted art and artists – while we were apart this past year, we’ve been reminded of their power and importance.
Last year the Campaign for Southern Equality launched a special grant round of our Southern Equality Fund, specifically to support BIPOC LGBTQ artists in the South working at the intersections of personal narrative and political organizing, whether through the written word, visual, or performing arts.
Through the special Southern Equality Studios grant round, we got to know twenty awesome artists and creatives, who you can meet by clicking here. ([link removed]) The $500 grants were designed to lift up the wonderful work that has been developed by Southern LGBTQ creatives, whose projects tell the stories of BIPOC queer resilience.
Grant rounds like these are one part of our Southern Equality Fund – and right now, we’re in the middle of a $10,000 matching gift challenge to raise money for SEF. Can you make a donation during Pride Month of $50, $20, or whatever you can to support these efforts? Click here to give. ([link removed])
Art and storytelling have long played a powerful and central role in movements for social justice, and we’re honored to be a part of that long legacy in our region. Together we can continue to empower our LGBTQ communities in the South, and we’re grateful to have members like you with us along the way.
Let’s not stop now – let’s keep showing up for our communities: Kick in a donation of $50, $20, or what you’re able to the Southern Equality Fund so we can meet our $10,000 matching gift goal for June. ([link removed])
Thank you,
Liz Williams,

P.S. Not able to donate right now? That’s OK! Please check out the work of the amazing artists who received a grant through our BIPOC LGBTQ Southern Artists and Creatives grant round. ([link removed])
