| Today AAVS observes the fifth annual Animal Sanctuary Caregiver Day, which honors the extraordinary people performing important and demanding work looking after thousands of animals in sanctuaries throughout the United States. These amazing individuals have had to improvise and adapt to the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, often putting themselves at risk for the benefit of all the animals who depend on them—their dedication is unparalleled. We are incredibly grateful for the sanctuary staff and volunteers who take on some pretty tough jobs to ensure that chimpanzees, monkeys, horses, and other buddies get the love and attention that they need and deserve.
