Texas Democrats helped their state stave off a massive rollback of voting rights by walking out of the statehouse last week. Shortly after, DNC Chair Jaime Harrison got on MSNBC to talk about Texas and the massive increase in voter suppression tactics across the country.
“This shouldn't be partisan. This shouldn't be Democrats versus Republicans. Americans should all stand up and say, ‘Enough is enough, we've been down this road before, why the hell are we going to go down it again?'” -- DNC Chair Jaime Harrison
Harrison is intimately familiar with that history -- he grew up in rural South Carolina and has family who experienced the horrors of Jim Crow in the South. And now far-right Republicans want to take us down a similar path again -- and Harrison knows Democrats must be the ones to resist that at all costs.

Right-wingers in the Republican Party often pitch voter suppression as correcting voter fraud, but there is no evidence of significant voter fraud occurring during the 2020 election or any election in recent memory.

Now, we know what this is really about -- it's about stealing elections and holding power without the support of the majority of Americans. These laws disproportionately disenfranchise voters of color and other people who are more likely to vote for Democrats. Republicans simply want to win at any cost -- even if it means destroying democracy.

We are going to be fighting with one hand tied behind our back in these Republican-led states that succeed in passing voter suppression laws. But we won in some of those states in 2020 thanks to your support.
