Dear neighbor,
As we approach the statewide reopening of the economy on Tuesday, June 15th, it’s important to be prepared and know what to expect. Next Tuesday, capacity limitations and physical distancing requirements will be lifted with limited exceptions. In addition, LA County’s travel advisory and masking guidance will align with that of the State of California. For more information on the reopening, please visit publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/Coronavirus.
The LA County Department of Public Health will be hosting a virtual town hall about the June 15th reopening today, June 10th, at 6:00 p.m. Get the latest updates and watch on LA Public Health’s Twitter, Facebook, or YouTube.
This has been a busy week in Congress. On Monday, I joined a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing with Secretary of State Antony Blinken and called attention to the State Department’s discriminatory assignment restrictions policy. I also attended a Judiciary Committee hearing to discuss my inherent contempt legislation, which strengthens Congress’ constitutional authority to hold those who refuse to comply with congressional subpoenas accountable. This morning, I participated in a hearing with FBI Director Chris Wray to discuss FBI data collection, the January 6 insurrection, and cybersecurity threats.
In addition, I’m pleased to announce that nearly $20 million in funding for key transportation projects in CA-33 has been included in the INVEST in America Act, a transformative $547 billion surface transportation reauthorization bill that would help modernize our roads, bridges, transit, and more. This is an important first step in the legislative process. If signed into law, this funding will help ensure people in our district can get to where they need to be safely, promote tourism in our beautiful area, and protect our natural wonders.
