Dear John,

Introduced at the beginning of the legislative session, the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act ( SB 586 [[link removed]]) never received a public hearing. This legislation ensures that medical care is given to a baby that survives a failed abortion procedure.

Data from the CDC [[link removed]] shows that as many as 143 babies have been tragically left to die after a failed abortion. SB 586 is important legislation that will save lives. Recent polling shows [[link removed]] 78% of Oregonians, including a majority of Democrats, Republicans, and voters with no political party, support this legislation.

Despite requests from pro-life legislators and emails from 1,452 pro-life Oregonians, Sen. Deb Patterson β€” chair of the Senate Health Care Committee β€” refused to hold a public hearing and work session on this bill.

This morning, a motion to pass the bill was brought to the floor of the full Senate. Every Oregon state senator is now on the record. We are disappointed in the 18 senators who have decided to defend the extremist position of the abortion lobby.

We are proud to support the 11 pro-life senators who stood up for life. They stand in agreement with 78% of Oregonians in protecting babies who survive failed abortions.

Use the button below to access our tool to contact your senator. If they voted Yes to protect born-alive babies, they will get a message thanking them for their pro-life stand. If they voted No there will be a message expressing disappointment in your senator for sticking with the radical and extreme position demanded by the abortion lobby.
