A day in the life of DAGA’s Director of Digital Media.
Picture this: It’s 9 a.m. The aroma of fresh coffee curls around you, your four-legged coworker (Abigail) is slurping up cat food at your feet, and your phone is thrumming with hot-off-the-press Tweets. Life is good, and you’re about to elect some amazing Democratic Attorneys General.
Friend, it’s me, Emily Rossi, and that’s how I start most mornings as DAGA’s Director of Digital Media. If it’s a busy news day – say, we’re on the brink of a Supreme Court decision that could dismantle the Affordable Care Act – it’s all-hands-on-deck to get our message out online.
You see, I show the Internet how Dem AGs impact today’s biggest headlines – and what that means for our communities. As it turns out, getting voters to care about down-ballot races is just like getting kids to eat their vegetables – a never-ending, necessary labor of love. Here’s my day-to-day battle to get DAGA’s message out into the world, and how you can help:
By mid-morning, I’m parked on Zoom with my colleagues, in a whirlwind of updates from every corner of DAGA-land: new Dem AG campaigns, upcoming court cases, events with grassroots donors, and more. The more I Zoom, the emptier that big pot of coffee gets.
At 1 p.m., I have a high-priority, high-clearance meeting with Abigail, where she is pampered with more food and chin scritches. She is a very demanding coworker and not particularly flexible when it comes to rescheduling, but it’s all part of the job.
Now, here’s where things get wily, friend. On days like today, I go into writer mode and reach out to incredible grassroots supporters like you. Other days, I might jump on a call with our Dem AGs or help manage DAGA’s creative team (arguably our coolest department).
By mid-afternoon, my pot of coffee has run dry or gone cold. Not one to despair, I switch over to sparkling water (currently obsessed with strawberry cucumber). Our work days technically end at 6 p.m., but I answer to another boss that never sleeps: the Internet.
So, I’m often working into the wee hours of the night, until Abigail lets me know it’s time to log off for more food and cuddles. The next time you see a purr-fect Tweet about Dem AGs taking the lead on student debt forgiveness or saving affordable health care, throw us a “like!”

Democratic Attorneys General Association
Democratic AGs truly are “The People’s Lawyers” and DAGA is the only party committee devoted to electing more of them. Since 2016, we’ve won two-thirds of our targeted races, and with more than 30 AG seats up for grabs in the next two years, we need your support – will you chip in today?
