USA TODAY: Gender pay gap bill blocked by Senate Republicans
Friend, in the United States, the average woman still makes 82 cents for every dollar that a man makes – and unfortunately, that gap is even larger for women of color. It's past time for a federal law to help close the gender pay gap for good.
That's why my Democratic Senate colleagues and I have been fighting for equal pay for equal work – but this week, Senate Republicans BLOCKED consideration of the Paycheck Fairness Act, which would be the first federal law targeting the gender pay gap in over a decade.
The fight for pay equity is far from over, so I'm counting on 5,000 members of this team to make their voices heard before 11:59 p.m. tonight. Please, let me know where you stand on this critical issue:
Do you support equal pay for equal work?
