Don't miss this moment? ? ? ? ? Friend ?

June is the start of LCV's Summer Membership Drive. This might be our most important one yet.

The Biden administration has just suspended all oil and gas leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, stalling one of Trump's final acts in office.

This action has triggered a major political battle between Big Polluters, the Biden administration, and activists like you and me, particularly as we ramp up our campaign to pass legislation that will fully restore protections to the Arctic Refuge. Right now, protection is not permanent, and leases are only temporarily paused. That needs to change.

This Membership campaign will dictate just how far we can go to secure Arctic protection for generations to come. We need your help today to make it happen.

Friend: renew your LCV membership today ? it only costs $5. Anything you can afford to contribute will make a huge difference ? [link removed]

Right now, a group of large donors are triple matching every gift to LCV through the end of the Membership campaign. If you donate today your gift will go three times as far.

Last week, Interior Secretary Deb Haaland ordered a suspension of all activity related to the drilling leases in the Arctic Refuge in order to conduct a full analysis of the environmental impacts of the program, citing that Trump's leasing program has "multiple legal deficiencies."

This is a great step forward, but the Arctic still remains under threat from Big Oil ? with the way of life of the Indigenous Gwich'in people, critical habitats for wildlife like polar bears and caribou, and the climate at risk of being desecrated by drilling.

Permanently protecting the Arctic Refuge is a matter of basic human rights for Indigenous communities like the Gwich'in people, who rely on the Refuge ? calling its coastal plain the "Sacred Place Where Life Begins" ? because their culture, traditions, and community are deeply tied to the land and wildlife. And drilling in the Arctic Refuge would release more carbon pollution at a time we should be doing all we can to transition to a clean and equitable energy future.

And that's why your LCV membership matters more than ever, Friend. The money we raise this month will fund our environmental campaigns that fend off attacks from the oil industry and other Big Polluters ? and hold the Biden administration accountable to their campaign commitments.

See where things stand and renew your LCV membership today ? it only costs $5. [link removed]
