How often do you see plastic bag litter in our county when you are out and about? Do you wish there were fewer plastic bags given out? Are you concerned about the impact plastic has on the environment including the amount of fossil fuel used to manufacture single use plastic bags?
Thanks to recent legislation, municipalities in Virginia can place a 5 cent fee on single use plastic bags in grocery stores, convenience and drug stores. A great way to reduce our plastic waste! Roanoke has already written an ordinance and has a timeline for implementation. It is time for Fairfax County to proceed and follow Roanoke’s lead.
