Dear friend,
The criminalization of marijuana is a direct attack on our communities of color. Through the deadly combination of over-policing and criminalization, BIPOC communities are more likely to be convicted of low-level marijuana offenses and receive longer sentences, which is a huge factor in our mass incarceration crisis.
That’s why I am so proud to be one of the representatives reintroducing the MORE Act, which will repeal the federal prohibition of marijuana, provide equity for cannabis businesses, and expunge low-level federal marijuana offenses.
This legislation is a key step towards undoing the systemic harm criminalization has inflicted on people of color, but it is not the end.
I am committed to fighting for all those who have been hurt by these harmful systems and I will continue to work for bold, transformative change until we have true justice.
Will you stand with me in that fight? [[link removed]]
In solidarity
