On November 2nd, there will be primaries for two special elections in Ohio’s 1st and 15th congressional districts. We’re keeping a very close eye on both races, but we’re most concerned about OH-15, where Trump just endorsed Republican candidate Mike Carey.

The outgoing Republican, Steve Stivers, was notably not one of The 147 and is working hard to elect his chosen successor, State Representative Jeff LaRe, even going so far to keep his campaign committee open to run ads in support of LaRe.

But Donald Trump clearly believes this special election is an opportunity to replace a Republican with a Trump loyalist because today he announced he’s endorsing coal lobbyist (seriously, you can’t make this up) Mike Carey in the Republican primary. How did Carey get Trump to engage in inter-party warfare by endorsing in a Republican primary? By cozying up to former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandoski, of course.
