Friend,

Some political campaigns will go to great lengths to raise money, even if it means deceiving people.

The National Republican Congressional Committee (which named me a top target to unseat next year) is certainly guilty of it. If you try to make a one-time donation to the NRCC, you'll be confronted with this:

Let's put aside the obvious questions (Who is Mark? Who is Leadership? Who is the Radical Left?) and talk about that pre checked box. It's one of the most shameless fundraising tactics out there -- one that's far more common among Republican organizations than Democratic ones. It's how they lure people into making monthly donations -- oftentimes without knowing it. It's deceptive, and it's wrong.

But the NRCC may not be able to pre-check that box for long. Last week, my fellow Minnesotan, Senator Amy Klobuchar, introduced a bill that would ban political campaigns from signing supporters up for recurring donations by default. It's a real step toward making political campaigns more respectful of their supporters, regardless of party.

If you want to see more campaigns run the right way -- with grassroots support, not dark money or deceptive tactics -- I hope you'll choose for yourself to become a recurring donor today.

Together, we're running a campaign that's fueled by grassroots donors and beholden to no one else. That means we can put common interests over special interests every day.

It's a privilege to bring principled, inclusive leadership to Congress -- and as a fellow Minnesotan, I'm proud that Senator Klobuchar is doing the same.

Thanks for your support,

Dean
