Friend,
Before Rashida was elected to Congress, she was not only a State Representative, she was an activist and organizer.
Whether it was holding the Koch brothers accountable for allowing toxic chemicals to pollute our air and water, fighting for abortion rights in the face of right-wing attacks, or breaking barriers as the first Muslim woman elected to the Michigan State House and then to Congress―Rashida makes sure that when she knocks down a door, she holds it open for those behind her.
That’s why she created the Rooted in Community Leadership PAC; to train the next generation of leaders with a focus on bringing more women and people of color into politics.
Check out Rashida’s update below on the critical impact we’re having on local races and issues; then donate $5 today to build a future where our government looks more like us and is responsive to our voices and needs.
Representation matters. That’s why, together, we’re training and electing a new generation of leaders―who are ready to lead today.
Thank you,
The Team at Rooted in Community Leadership PAC

Friend,
Together, we’re not only changing the face of politics; we’re changing the way our government represents the people.
With your help, we built our Rooted in Community Leadership PAC to train and support candidates, and give young people the tools to organize in their local communities. And we’re already seeing a major impact.
After our inaugural Campaign School, four of our graduates are running for office this year, including one candidate for Detroit City Clerk, one for the Board of Police Commissioners, and two City Council candidates.
Each of our candidates has the opportunity to positively impact their communities, whether it’s protecting and expanding voting rights in the face of GOP attacks, reimagining what public safety looks like, or impacting everything from water policy to taxes.
And we’re not stopping there! We just finished the first month of our Youth Fellowship program where we’re training young people ages 15-21 to become organizers on issues impacting them and their communities.
Each month, our youth organizers participate in 4 hours of field work. In their first month, they served food to the homeless, worked on political campaigns, volunteered in an urban gardening project, and even began setting up their own direct action: a march raising awareness on gun violence.
If you’re as inspired as I am by our candidates and our youth organizers, chip in $5 to our Rooted in Community Leadership PAC to support and train the next generation of political leaders.

Thank you for being by my side as, together, we fight for a government that represents all of us.
