John,
This is where we’re at in Congress right now:
Working people came out in massive numbers in 2020 and gave Democrats a mandate to go big on saving our democracy, and on jobs, care, and climate.
Since then, Republicans have done nothing but obstruct — pretending to negotiate when their real goal is to keep the legislative clock ticking until it runs out. And with every day that passes, we lose critical time to pass the transformational legislation we need to get us out of the overlapping crises we’re still living through.
But right now, some Democratic senators are also standing in the way. Senators like West Virginia’s Joe Manchin and Arizona’s Kyrsten Sinema are not doing what is necessary to meet the gravity of this moment and deliver on their party’s promises to working families.
We need Senators Manchin and Sinema to hear the voices of voters in their states who need and want transformational change. That’s why the Working Families Party is getting ready to turn up the heat in Arizona and West Virginia this summer. Can you make a grassroots contribution of $3 or more to join us in this work?

Republicans have made themselves clear. They have refused to accept the results of an election, incited an insurrection, and are now working around the clock in state legislatures to attack democracy because they’ve given up on persuading voters that their positions are right.
Both Senator Sinema and Senator Manchin have said they are in favor of keeping the filibuster in place. But we know that this Jim Crow relic serves no one but the billionaires and white supremacists on the other side who are counting on its existence to maintain the status quo.
Moments like this don’t come around very often. With Democratic majorities, we have a rare opportunity to transform our nation into the one we deserve. But we can’t let two senators block that progress in the fruitless pursuit of compromise with Republicans.
That’s why WFP organizers in West Virginia and Arizona are planning teach-ins, in-person actions, phone banks, radio and digital ads and more over the next few weeks to help make sure Senators Manchin and Sinema hear from their constituents about the results they expect to see — the results we elected them to deliver.
Working people in Arizona and West Virginia are counting on Sinema and Manchin to do what it takes to tackle our most pressing problems. Make a $3 contribution to help us make sure they hear from ALL of us.
In solidarity,
