John,
The Senate is gridlocked, and it’s frustrating progressives who are anxious to clean up the mess Trump left of our country.
So here’s something that Joe Biden can do whether Joe Manchin and Mitch McConnell want him to or not: Fire Trump’s Social Security Administration appointees, Andrew Saul and David Black.
The White House is hearing us. We need to keep up the pressure. Can you rush a $7 donation today to save Social Security from Trump’s appointees?
Just like fellow Trump appointees Louis DeJoy and Betsy DeVos, Saul & Black’s real job is to sabotage the agency they should be serving. They delayed the delivery of nearly 30 million stimulus checks, forcing Social Security beneficiaries to wait weeks for much needed COVID relief. And they are waging war on both Social Security beneficiaries and the Social Security Administration’s unionized workforce.
Saul and Black are pushing through regulatory changes that make it more difficult for people to qualify for Social Security’s disability benefits, and easier to take these essential benefits away from people who have already qualified. One of Saul’s outrageous attempts to make it harder for people with disabilities to get their benefits was rejected by ALL 9 Supreme Court Justices.
They are also trying to union-bust the Social Security workforce. An independent arbitrator recently found that Saul and Black are engaged in unfair labor practices. They are making life miserable for longtime Social Security employees.
As a result many of the most highly skilled, experienced workers are leaving. This weakens Social Security’s customer service, making it harder for Americans to claim the benefits we’ve earned over a lifetime of work.
Donald Trump has been gone for nearly six months. But his cronies, Saul and Black, remain in power. Together, we’re going to do something about that. Donate today!
President Biden, you ran on a platform of protecting and expanding Social Security. People with disabilities and seniors are counting on you to keep that promise by firing Saul and Black. This can’t wait another day.
Thank you,
Michael Phelan Social Security Works
