Massachusetts has been hailed as the first state to legalize same-sex
marriage and a leader in the fight to safeguard the rights of LGBTQIA+
people, but trans and queer folks — especially Black transgender women —
still face discrimination, persecution, and violence in our communities.
That is why mutal aid groups like the Transgender Emergency Fund of
Massachusetts are so essential. TEF-MA provides critical assistance for
low-income and homeless transgender people living in Massachusetts. And
this weekend, on June 12th, I’ll be joining their resistance march and
vigil in honor and memory of Black trans lives.

Your contribution will fund the group’s work with homelessness prevention,
shelter assistance, food assistance, prescription co-pay assistance,
transportation and escort to medical appointments, and more.
In a moment when members of the trans community remain subject to so much
bigotry and hatred, we will stand together to celebrate trans joy, to
recognize the contributions trans people make to our communities every
day, and reaffirm our commitment to keep up the fight until safety,
dignity, and equity are a reality for all trans people.
With solidarity,
Ayanna
