John,

We were incredibly disappointed to see Senator Manchin announce his opposition to the For The People Act this week, essentially dooming the chances of passing the entirety of this crucial legislation in the U.S. Senate. But we must remember, the future of voting rights is still in our hands.

Without the For The People Act, voting rights will be set back decades. With the U.S. Senate under the sway of Senators like Joe Manchin, the federal government is forced to stand by and watch as states like Georgia, Florida, Arizona, and so many more implement draconian voter suppression bills.

So, here is how we move forward: we must elect more Democrats, so we can actually protect voting rights. With an expanded Democratic majority, we can pass legislation and not stay beholden to a single senator. Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Ohio, North Carolina, Florida, and even Iowa all have Senate seats up in 2022 that are winnable, but we need to invest now to make it happen. Republicans are already getting to work through their voter suppression legislation, so we need to get to work with our grassroots organizing.

We have a winning strategy: getting more Democrats signed up to vote by mail. We identify the voters who matter most in each state -- people who critical to the Democratic turnout efforts, but are most at risk from Republican voter suppression legislation. This was the cornerstone of our effective programs in 2020, and we're ready to do it again. Turnout is critical in 2022 as Democrats face an uphill battle. We must get started now.

Most candidates have already announced their campaigns for these races. Many primaries are just a few months away. But we don't have to wait. We can't wait. If we want to have a successful grassroots campaign to promote mail-in voting in these states, we need to get to work now.

Please, chip in $25 to support vote by mail in battleground states.
