Three-quarters of young people are concerned that tobacco companies are using flavors to attract minors to vaping, according to a 2020 Truth Initiative survey of nearly 800 young adults between ages 18-24.

This week in tobacco policy news

Michigan – The House passed bills that would prohibit the sale of vaping products, tobacco or marijuana, containing vitamin E acetate. The bills now move to the Senate for consideration.

Oklahoma – Gov. Stitt signed into law a bill that would redefine tobacco products under state statute for tax purposes. The bill exempts nicotine products, such as lozenges and pouches from a state excise tax, along with e-cigarettes and vape devices which are already exempt. This is disappointing as all tobacco products should be taxed, proportional to the harm of tobacco product type.
