Dear Friend,

The FBI has launched an investigation into Postmaster General Louis DeJoy
and his business’s campaign contributions.^1

The Postmaster General is being pummeled by allegations of campaign
finance fraud. Meanwhile, the mail service is continuing to deteriorate,
with more than 20 percent of deliveries showing up late.^2

The Board of Governors for the U.S. Postal Service should remove DeJoy
immediately—but President Biden needs to replace a Trump appointee whose
term has recently expired in order to get a majority to fire DeJoy.^3
Demand Progress is pressuring the White House and the Senate to act right
away so the board can give DeJoy the boot.

Service?

Workers at Dejoy’s former company, New Breed Logistics, have gone public
with claims that they were pressured by DeJoy to attend political
fundraisers and donate to Republican candidates, and then were paid back
through bonuses—allowing DeJoy to funnel much more money than is allowed
by an individual to those candidates.^4

Before taking over at the U.S. Postal Service, DeJoy was known as a
prominent GOP fundraiser who bought in wholeheartedly to Trump’s policies,
donating more than $1.1 million of his own money to the GOP war chest.^5
Now it seems that he used his company to donate quite a bit more.

It was clear that DeJoy was nominated as Postmaster General by Trump
because he could slow the mail to stymie absentee ballots, but he has a
longer-term plan to destroy the post office entirely. In March 2021, he
submitted a 10-year proposal to worsen the post office by lengthening
delivery times and cutting service hours, in what the Washington Post
called the “largest rollback of customer mail services in a generation.”^6
This rollback would make the USPS incredibly vulnerable to private
competition.

There is no way that DeJoy should be in his position, but the Board of
Governors doesn’t have the majority needed to fire him. We need to make
sure that Biden replaces a Trump appointee whose term has expired, and we
must keep the heat on the board and demand that it replace DeJoy.

Board of Governors to fire Louis DeJoy. Will you donate to help save the
post office?

Thanks for standing with us.

Robert Cruickshank,
Demand Progress
