John,
Earlier this week, a report by ProPublica on never-before-seen IRS data confirmed what we already knew: The corrupt tax system is rigged in favor of billionaires and the richest Americans pay the least in taxes.
Through campaign contributions and influential lobbying, billionaires have bought themselves a regressive tax system in which working-class Americans pay nearly ⅓ of their income in taxes, while the ultra-wealthy avoid taxes, exploit loopholes, and escape scrutiny from the IRS.
Our movement is built on the belief that the ultra-wealthy should pay their fair share in order to reshape our economy and implement policies that would uplift working Americans. But here’s the thing John, the Corporate Democrats who say that Medicare For All, the Green New Deal, and canceling student loan debt are too expensive are the SAME Democrats who accept corporate PAC money and billionaire campaign contributions.
We’ve already seen special interests and billionaire dollars pouring in to try to defeat Justice Democrats, who are the loudest voices in the fight to Tax the Rich and change the corrupt regressive tax system. But Justice Democrats-endorsed candidates aren’t billionaires or connected with the ultra-rich. Our slate is composed of working Americans who have faced many of the same struggles as the people they will govern. Will you chip in $3 to help elect a slate of Justice Democrats who will govern for the people, not the tax-evading 1%?
In solidarity,
Justice Democrats
