Friends,

Government service has always been personal to me.

I grew up in public housing, so when NYCHA residents go without heat or hot water, I think about my own family.

I was diagnosed with HIV at 22 years old and lost my health insurance shortly after. When I hear about someone who can’t afford their rent or their medication, I remember how that felt.

I got sober from drugs and alcohol 11 years ago (12 years on July 13th!), which is the greatest accomplishment in my life. When I see others facing their own struggles with addiction or mental health, I know how hard it can be just to get through the day.

I take my work personally because of how many people it affects. I work harder because I want to make things better for New Yorkers. That’s what I can promise you as your next Comptroller.

I’m going to be participating in the first televised Comptroller debate on NY1 at 7pm tonight. You can tune in on TV, on NY1’s website ([link removed]) or on Facebook ([link removed]) . This is a big moment for our campaign, so I hope you’ll watch!

And if you’re with me, can you share this graphic below on your social media today?

I’m so grateful for all of your support. I couldn’t do this without you.

In Service,

Corey Johnson
