On the National John Lewis Voting Rights Act Day of Action last month, thousands of us took to the streets to support voting rights!
Now, a month later, we have arrived at a critical juncture in this fight. We need you to stay plugged in to activities to defend our democracy through this vital summer of activism, and we’re excited to share ways you can do that at a movement call tonight with People For the American Way Board Member and civil rights legend Dolores Huerta!
We have been mobilizing to educate voters about the wave of voter suppression bills threatening millions of voters and how important it is that Congress pass the For the People Act, the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, and the D.C. statehood bill (H.R. 51), and eliminate the Jim Crow filibuster to get these measures through.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has set the week of June 21 for a vote on the For the People Act. We need to stay focused on the end goal and make sure we don’t let up the pressure for all three bills and for removing the filibuster as a barrier for this and other important legislation. There’s a lot to be done – and our coalition partners, advocacy leaders, and experts will make sure you know exactly how to plug in this summer.
