Greetings Friend,
BREAKING:
Earlier today, the NC Senate joined the House in passing the Human
Life Non-Discrimination Act (HB453). It now heads to Governor Cooper's
desk before it can become law.
The Human Life Non-Discrimination Act
(HB453) prohibits abortions based on race and/or the prenatal
diagnosis of Down syndrome. “All babies−born and unborn− have
intrinsic dignity and worth and should be protected from the practice
of eugenic abortion in North Carolina,” according to Primary Bill
Sponsor, Representative Pat McElraft. We're grateful for bill sponsors
like Rep. McElraft, Arp, Bradford, & Baker in the House; and Sen.
Krawiec, Galey, and Barnes in the Senate.
This bill has brought some special
moments to the NC General Assembly, as legislators have heard from
courageous families and children who have Down syndrome. They saw
firsthand the smiles, hugs, ideas, abilities, and potential in each of
God's image-bearers. We want to thank these families for their
sacrifices and advocacy--this has been a team effort!
We have been so grateful for the role all
of you have played in getting the bill this far. Would you consider
joining us in praying that governor Cooper will have compassion
on the unborn and sign this bill into law, and that if he
doesn’t, our legislators will be encouraged to stand strong and
override his veto?
If you're grateful to the
Republicans and Democrats who voted for the Human Life
Non-Discrimination Act (HB453), would you take a minute to send them a
quick thank you with our click-to-contact
tool?
In gratitude,
Tami
