?Dear?Friend,
Senate Bill 52 passed the Senate <[link removed]> and it's winging its way to the House
The bill <[link removed]> would let local officials ban large wind and solar farms in their communities, usurping the authority that now rests with the Ohio Power Siting Board.?
Peter Krouse from the Plain Dealer reports <[link removed]>?the bill would put a severe damper on renewable energy projects in the state, changing the rules midstream and endangering projects already in development, including in some cases after substantial investments have been made.
The attempt to empower townships to block wind and solar projects comes as lawmakers are simultaneously debating whether to strip cities of authority to pass policies aimed at reducing fossil fuel use
Senate Bill 52?would allow county commissioners to prohibit the construction of wind and solar farms for whatever reason.
The bill?subjects wind and solar energy to extensive regulations and overreach, which is bad for landowners' rights and economic development in the state. "The message to all businesses is that Ohio can change the rules at any time and your investment is gone," says <[link removed]>MikePullins <[link removed]>, a farmer and landowner from Champaign County.
We need your support to stop SB 52 in its tracks
Hearings will begin in the House as early as next week. Please call your legislator and leave a message - it's is one of the easiest and quickest ways to make an impact.?Please call Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
